Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Chandler Regional Hospital in Arizona are both part of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), a healthcare system comprised of 43 hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
As part of CHW, Chandler and Mercy Gilbert provide complimentary services and work cooperatively. Both use Vericom’s SoundCare on hold/in queue communications solution as an integral part of their marketing strategies to get important health messages to consumers, employees, and physicians. In June 2006 when Mercy Gilbert first opened its doors, SoundCare was there to greet the very first callers with health information and a message from President and CEO, Laurie Eberst. |

Patient education as a part of healing
Mercy Gilbert Medical Center sustains a culture of healing, a commitment that includes patient education as well as quality, compassionate care, and professionalism. “When SoundCare educates about mammography and other screenings, consumers become more proactive in staying healthy and are more involved in their own care,” says Eberst.
Mercy Gilbert and Chandler rely on SoundCare to educate callers about their services and the benefits of choosing a CHW hospital. Both facilities leverage SoundCare’s unique call-to-action capabilities in directing callers. “SoundCare has been a powerful tool for us,” says Julie Graham, Marketing Manager. “Targeted SoundCare messages give callers the right information necessary to expedite their calls to the right department.”
SoundCare creates greater facility and service line awareness for an already captive audience. SoundCare’s ability to promote the CHW brand has also assisted these two hospitals in community outreach and foundation efforts. “SoundCare is a wonderful reminder for our community that we are here for them,” adds Graham. |

Fulfilling strategic initiatives
with SoundView
Marketing has fully capitalized on using SoundView as part of their SoundCare program, which allows senior management and staff to speak directly to callers who are briefly placed on hold. SoundView conveys the speaker’s commitment to issues such as patient safety (including medication reconciliation and E-MAR); the benefits of care in a healing environment; the foundation’s GIFT campaign, recruitment, and what it means to be a full service hospital.
SoundView has been quite valuable to Mercy Gilbert by effectively communicating its strategic initiatives to the public in a straightforward way. “When we use the voices of our staff, we deliver our messages directly to the heart of our callers,” says Eberst. “As a CHW hospital, we are a partner with our community, a partnership that includes SoundCare’s preventive education to help ensure our community stays healthy.” |
