| Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway (RWJUHR), a 260-bed community hospital, has been effectively using SoundCare for years to promote its services, new centers and programs, and national health observances it supports on a local level. As a result of recent experiences with SoundCare, the marketing team has keenly recognized that people who call about one procedure or event can be introduced to the hospital's other services through SoundCare.
With the opening of the RWJUHR Wound Care Center, the wound care department had been diligently tracking "how heard" in order to learn which marketing media had been the most effective in bringing patients to the center. In the beginning, it didn't occur to them to track SoundCare. However, when a caller identified a SoundCare message as the reason she was calling and making an appointment, marketing quickly realized the power of their SoundCare on hold message program. While waiting on hold for another service, the caller heard about the Wound Care Center and made the call. "The tracking list included everything from direct mail, to doctor in-services, to trade publications, but we never thought to add SoundCare even though it has been an important marketing avenue for us," says Donna Mancuso, Public Affairs Manager. "The fact that this woman remembered hearing the message on hold without any prompting made us realize just how effective SoundCare can be in getting the word out and bringing people in."
Today, RWJUHR uses SoundCare to promote its services, generating positive responses from the various departments. "Department heads routinely thank us for recognizing their services and for making callers aware of what they have to offer. Public awareness of our programs is a key benefit of SoundCare, and this awareness is generated very cost-effectively," says Mancuso.
