American Heart Month
February 2008

“Act in Time” is one of the new programs designed by the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to encourage people to act quickly in response to heart attacks or stroke symptoms.

The campaign focuses on the importance of calling 911 to obtain immediate emergency treatment with certain medications which can only be given in the early stage of heart attacks or strokes.

Celebrate American Heart Month, and join the efforts to reduce your risk factors, recognize symptoms, and prevent heart disease and strokes! Spread the message about cardiovascular disease this month, “Don’t delay—get help right away!”

Vericom can help you communicate cost-effectively with your internal and external customers. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease:

  • Create a SoundView interview with a cardiologist, neurologist, emergency care physician
  • Create a SoundView interview with a person diagnosed with heart disease or stroke
  • Promote cardiac rehabilitation services, stroke rehabilitation services, nutrition counseling services, physical therapy services, emergency department services, intensive or critical care services, paramedic services
  • Promote upcoming screenings for cholesterol
  • Promote smoking cessation, weight management, stress management programs
  • Differentiate your cardiovascular service line from your competition

    Sample SoundCare Message

"Heart disease is the nation’s leading cause of death. If blood flow in an artery of the heart is blocked, a heart attack may occur. Knowing the warning signs of heart attacks may help you quickly act to seek emergency care, which may save your life. The common warning signs of heart attacks are: severe pain in the chest, jaw, or neck; difficulty breathing; nausea; or cold and clammy skin. If you experience any of these warning signs, call 9-1-1 for emergency medical services. Get help right away!"

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
