Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month
May 1-31, 2008
More than 50 million Americans have allergies, and 20 million have asthma. The Allergy and Asthma Foundation, or AAFA, highlights awareness of allergies and asthma as serious and expensive health problems during May, which is the peak season for individuals with these conditions. AAFA sponsors Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, and ongoing educational programs, advocacy, support groups, and research.
AAFA encourages proper diagnosis, treatment, and prevention for people with allergies and asthma. This month, AAFA focuses on education related to indoor air quality, allergy triggers, and household mold to improve the health of individuals with allergies and asthma. Vericom can help you communicate in a cost – effective manner with your internal and external customers. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this issue:

  • Create a SoundView with a pulmonologist or ENT physician
  • Create a SoundView with an individual with asthma or allergies
  • Promote your allergy, respiratory care, and pulmonary services
  • Differentiate your services from the competition
  •

    Sample SoundCare Message

"The most common indoor allergy triggers are dust mites, molds, and pet dander. There are several ways to improve indoor air quality for people with allergies and asthma. Maintain your home’s humidity level below 50 percent. Vacuum regularly, and use exhaust fans to increase kitchen and bathroom ventilation. Keep pets off the furniture, and bathe them weekly. Fix leaky plumbing to prevent moisture from entering your home, and destroy mold spores with a solution containing bleach."

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
