The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) is an international not-for-profit association focused on the practice of transfusion medicine and related biological therapies. AABB develops standards, accreditation, and education to improve patient care and safety.
Every three seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion, and approximately 38, 000 units of red blood cells are needed every day. Trauma victims, surgical patients, and persons receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease may need blood transfusions.
This month, the AABB promotes voluntary blood donation and encourages you to give the gift of life in January through volunteer blood donation.
Vericom can help you communicate in a cost – effective manner with your internal and external customers regarding your blood donation programs. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this important issue:
Create a SoundView with your Chief Pathologist, Laboratory Director, Chief of Surgery or Blood Bank Manager to discuss the need for voluntary blood donation
Create a SoundView with a blood donor or blood transfusion recipient
