Hemochromatosis Screening Awareness Month
July 1-31, 2007
Hemochromatosis Screening Awareness Month focuses on this disorder, which causes excess dietary iron to be absorbed. The accumulated iron damages organs and joints. In July, the Hemochromatosis Foundation sponsors a campaign to raise awareness of this condition through education, screenings, and efforts directed toward detection and treatment.

The Hemochromatosis Foundation conducts public awareness campaigns, educates the public about the health risks, coordinates advocacy, and provides family support and physician referrals.

Vericom can help you communicate cost-effectively with your internal and external customers. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this issue:

  • Create a SoundView with a hematologist
  • Create a SoundView with a patient with hemochromatosis
  • Promote your hematology services

    Sample SoundCare Message

"Hemochromatosis, is a disease which causes iron overload and absorption of excess iron from an ordinary diet. Many individuals are unaware that they are accumulating dangerous levels of iron in their bodies. The symptoms of this condition are liver cancer, chronic fatigue, cirrhosis, joint pain, and early menopause. Lab tests can detect and help your doctor diagnose hemochromatosis."

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
