Kids Ears, Nose, and Throat Health Month
February 2008
Kids’ Ear, Nose, and Throat, or E-N-T Month, is observed in February to promote awareness of childhood disorders of the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck. This health observance is sponsored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, or AAO – HHS, whose physician membership specializes in the treatment of these and other E-N-T disorders.

AAO – HHS promotes education, research, and professional standards for the diagnosis and management of diseases of the sinuses, larynx, pharynx, neck, and face.

Otolaryngologists treat ear disorders in children, such as: infections of the ear, tonsil, and adenoid; airway problems; and congenital ear defects. In addition, they treat childhood sinusitis, allergies, and voice and swallowing disorders.

Vericom can help you communicate in a cost – effective manner with your internal and external customers about this health observance. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this issue:

    Sample SoundCare Message

"Young children do not have fully developed immune systems or sinuses, and are very susceptible to sinus infections, or pediatric sinusitis. Sinus infections in children have a different set of symptoms than adult sinusitis. The following symptoms could indicate a sinus infection in a child: cough, bad breath, irritability, fatigue, swelling of the eye area, and yellow-green nasal drainage."

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
