UV Safety Month
July 1-31, 2007
Too much ultraviolet, or UV, radiation from sunlight can cause eye damage. Age-related macular degeneration and cataracts, which are leading causes of vision loss, can develop from UV exposure. This month, the American Academy of Ophthalmology sponsors an awareness campaign to encourage the public to protect their eyes by wearing wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses that block UV rays.

July is UV Safety Month, a time when the sun is especially bright, and many individuals are enjoying summer outdoor activities. The level of UV radiation is three times greater in the summer months. The American Academy of Ophthalmology wants you to have fun while protecting your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays!

Vericom can help you communicate cost-effectively with your internal and external customers. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this issue:

  • Create a Soundview with an ophthalmologist
  • Create a SoundView with a patient who has received ophthalmology services
  • Promote your ophthalmology services

    Sample SoundCare Message

"Prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet, or UV rays, can cause cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Your best defenses against the sun’s harmful rays are wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses that block UV light. In addition, exposure to UV rays can “sunburn” the surface of your eye, leading to complications and eye damage. Have fun during the summer, but protect your eyes from the sun!"

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
